One of the most complete and best editions published in the nineteenth century, adorned witha portrait of Buffon engraved by Giroux, withun frontispiece drawn by Staal and engraved by Delaunay showing “Man and Woman”, de 4 maps, and 144 steel engravings outside the text representing 800 subjects, the latter finely hand-colored mostly after the drawings of Traviès.

This edition (with the Linnaên Nomenclature and Cuvier’s Classification) is annotated by M. Flourens and reviewed on the large in-4° edition of the Royal Printing House.
