Covers decorated with a border relief showing two faun masks surrounded by flower bunches and fruits volutes which delimits a large central and round scene.

On the front cover: the admiral of the Austrian fleet dubs the squadron commander bound for fighting against the Turks.

On the back cover: the scene represents two Turk janissaries with arms, the Turkish crescent is visible on the left character.

The spine is decorated with a relief volute made of flowers and fruits; the spine flaps and the clasp represent each a faun head.

Dimensions of the binding: 170 x 100 mm.

Interesting baroque reliure parlante of the end of the 17th century made in all likelihood in Vienna, illustrating the historic events of the time.

It comes from the Docteur Lucien-Graux’s collection with his son ex-libris (Auction of March 20-21st, 1958, n°237) and covers a volume dealing with the History of Abyssinia printed in Gottingen in 1791.

Besides, the work is illustrated with 6 engravings out of pagination.

A splendid silver binding, made towards 1690, relating the conflict between Austria and Turkey.
