First edition of the poems of Lorenzo de’ Medici.

Nicknamed Lorenzo il Magnifico, he is a true prince of the Renaissance: generous patron, in love with life and full of culture, poet at his hours, he can also be despotic, amoral and ruthless.

In his villa of Careggi, near the city, he meets with philosophers, artists and scholars from his time, chatting with them about great texts from the past and new ideas, welcoming them at his table.

Among these artists and these beautiful minds, Botticelli, Donatello and Verrocchio, Marsile Ficin, neoplatonist philosopher (from the school of Plato), Leon-Battista Alberti, Pic de la Mirandole… The young Michel-Angelo even has his own bedroom in the palace of via Larga.
