“Under this generic title, French writer Marcel Pagnol (1895-1974) published three collections of memories. The first volume, La Gloire de mon père, was published in 1957. The characters are two of the Pagnol family: first, the old grandfather, the father, a secular teacher to the core, utopian and republican, deeply loved; the mother, Augustine, who got married at nineteen and had them all her life; Uncle Jules, a native of Roussillon, who “went to mass”; Armand, another teacher with whom Pagnol’s father joined forces to work on card reproduction for Vidal-Lablache. Three episodes depict young Marcel…

In 1959, Pagnol published “Le Château de ma mère”. With their thickets of terebinths and kermes oaks, the hills overlooking Aubagne are a paradise for game, hunters and poachers ….

In 1960, the author published the third volume, Le Temps des secrets. The child had grown up. Jules Verne succeeded Fenimore Cooper… This time, young Marcel Pagnol was going to go to high school. (Dictionary of Works, VI, 238).

Very nice set preserved in the original wrappers, untrimmed as published.
